Depok, June 10, 2025 — In the spirit of strengthening cultural and educational ties between South Korea and Indonesia, Korea-Indonesia Connection (KIC) FISIP UI, in collaboration with MiriCanvas Indonesia, officially launched the Korea-Indonesia Young Creatives Competition (KIYCC). Held at the Mochtar Riady Auditorium, FISIP UI, the event was attended by high school and university students ready to channel their ideas through digital creative design.

The event began with an opening speech by Getar Hati, Ph.D, Program Director of KIC FISIP UI, who emphasized the importance of providing young people with space to express cross-cultural perspectives through visual media. “This event marks an important first step in recognizing and encouraging participants to share their ideas using a platform that is both intuitive and globally relevant,” said Getar Hati, Ph.D in his remarks.

Strong support was also expressed by Irenna Elizabeth, S.Ak., MBA, Partnership Development Manager of MiriCanvas Indonesia. “We believe that creativity is a skill that can be learned and developed by everyone. Through MiriCanvas, we aim to open a visual exploration space that is not only user-friendly but also empowering,” Irenna explained.

The agenda continued with a Mini Workshop: MiriCanvas Essentials, led directly by the MiriCanvas team. This session equipped participants with fundamental design techniques such as template selection, visual layout, and exploration of AI-powered features. With live demonstrations, participants were guided through hands-on exercises delivered by Irenna Elizabeth herself.

Next was a Short Lecture by Intan Syafira Gustia, S.Sos., M.A., Secretary-General of KIC FISIP UI, who introduced the concepts of gastrodiplomacy and glocalization as thematic foundations of the competition. “Diplomacy between nations can start with something as familiar as food. What we consume daily can serve as a powerful medium to share culture and strengthen international relations,” Intan explained.

The submission period for the Korea-Indonesia Young Creatives Competition (KIYCC) is officially open from June 10 to July 10, 2025. The competition is open to individual participants using the MiriCanvas digital design platform, under the main theme: “Bridging Culture Across Borders.” High school participants will explore gastrodiplomacy as a cultural diplomacy medium through food, while university students are challenged to design visual campaigns based on glocalization. Three top finalists from each category will receive internationally recognized digital certificates and a total prize pool worth up to Rp7,500,000.
