KIC FISIP UI Successfully Holds Research Workshop & Roundtable Discussion 2025

On June 11–12, 2025, KIC FISIP UI hosted a research workshop and roundtable on "Policy Challenges in Korea and Indonesia," aimed at enhancing research skills among graduate students and early-career researchers. The event, supported by the Korea Foundation, featured expert speakers from leading Indonesian universities.

Depok, June 12, 2025 — The Korea-Indonesia Connection (KIC) FISIP UI, with the support of the Korea Foundation, successfully hosted the Research Workshop & Roundtable Discussion under the theme “Navigating the Intersections: Policy Challenges in Korea and Indonesia” on Wednesday and Thursday, June 11–12, 2025, at the Auditorium Gedung Komunikasi, FISIP Universitas Indonesia, Depok.

This two-day event is part of the Indonesia-Korea Social & Humanities Research Apprenticeship 2025 program, designed to support the research capacity building of emerging scholars in the field of Indonesia-Korea relations within the social sciences and humanities. It also serves as an intellectual collaboration platform for graduate students across disciplines.

The first day began with a session on academic writing and publication led by Dr. Herdis Herdiansyah from the School of Environmental Science, Universitas Indonesia, followed by a research methodology session by Whisnu Triwibowo, Ph.D., from the Department of Communication Science, Universitas Indonesia. These sessions covered research paradigms, methodological approaches, and academic ethics. Participants engaged in hands-on activities, including an introduction to Scopus, techniques for selecting Q1 journals, structuring academic articles, and transforming thesis topics into multiple journal papers. The discussions also highlighted the importance of publication ethics, research bias, and the role of AI as a tool to support, not replace, human creativity and critical thinking.

On the second day, the program continued with a Roundtable Discussion focusing on five main research domains:

  1. International Relations and Security led by Ratih Indraswari, M.A., Ph.D

  2. Economic Growth, Media, and Digital Transformation led by Mochamad Alvin Dwiana Qobulsyah, S.I.P., M.I.S.

  3. Governance, Development, and Politics led by Dr.phil. Aditya perdana, M.Si.

  4. Social Welfare and Sustainable Development led by Sri Harjanto Adi Pamungkas, M.P.A

  5. Regionalism and Socio-Cultural Exchange led by Hestu Prahara, Ph.D.

Each research group was facilitated by moderators from leading Indonesian universities such as Universitas Parahyangan, Binus University, and Universitas Indonesia. Group members presented discussion outcomes related to their chosen research topics.

According to Dr. Getar Hati, Director of KIC FISIP UI, “This program reflects KIC FISIP UI’s strong commitment to nurturing globally-minded thinkers and researchers in the social sciences and humanities, while fostering academic collaboration networks. One of our key goals is to bridge Indonesian graduate students with professors and students from top Korean universities for joint academic exchange. The targeted output of this program is the publication of journal articles authored from the collaborative exchange of ideas.”
